Matt Derosa – Pure MMA NYC Founder
& Head Instructor

Matt Derosa has over thirteen years of experience in the martial
arts. He has training in nine different martial arts systems
including Kenpo Karate, Combat Jiu Jitsu, Greco-Roman
Wrestling, Ninjutsu, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Western Boxing,
Muay Thai, and JKD.

Like many others, his training began with the learning of un-
realistic forms of martial arts which are taught in our society
mainly as a tool for fitness, not real life self-defense.

Frustrated with what he later realized was inherently flawed
and totally ineffective, he went on to conduct extensive
research into what truly works and what doesn't.

Throughout his years of training in various martial art systems,
his objective was always clear – develop only the skills that
are practical, easy to use, and highly effective...

...discarding the rest of what Bruce Lee termed "a classical
in order to emphasize his focus on what really worked.

Essentially, it's a process which incorporates the best, most
effective elements of independent martial arts systems into
one cohesive set of very powerful skills.

To further this process, Matt also utilizes advanced knowledge
in Neuro-Linguistics Programming, Learning Acceleration,
and Sports Psychology; all of which assist us in reaching
the highest levels of performance attainable.

In addition to teaching realistic fighting skills, Matt's intention
is to promote the martial arts as a catalyst for increased
confidence, self-improvement, and general well-being.

Day in and day out, he does his best to teach his students
these powerful, life-enhancing skills.
